Burning Permits Required
Camino - The Amador-El Dorado Unit of the California
Department of Forestry and Fire Protection CAL
FIRE is reminding residents that burning permits are required as of May 1 every year and that they are
free at local fire stations. Keep in mind if the fire were to escape your control and/or burn the property
of someone else, you could face civil liability and/or criminal charges. As in past years, the public
should expect that burn permits will be suspended in the near future as weather and fuel conditions change.
Don't forget the following proper burning techniques:
Call your local burn information number to make sure it is a permissive burn
day, because the Air Pollution Control District still controls whether or not you can burn.
The number for El Dorado County Air Pollution Control District is (530)621-5897; Amador County
Air Pollution Control District is (209) 223-6246.
Maximum pile size 4 foot by 4 foot.
Never leave the fire unattended.
Make sure you have proper clearance cut to mineral soil around the pile(s)
and have a shovel and hose on sight so that you can quickly put out any fire that may escape
from the burn pile(s).
Do not burn on windy days, the wind can carry fire brands and set fires
quite a distance from your original burn pile(s).
Be considerate of your neighbors and where the smoke from your burning piles may drift.
If you have questions or concerns about proper burning technique, please
contact your local fire station personnel for further information.
In case of an emergency, call 911.
