Christmas Tree for State Capitol
From El Dorado County

CAMINO - "We at CAL FIRE are very proud to be able to participate , in cooperation with the Department of General Services Building and Property Management Division for the Sate Capitol, in this annual event of delivering the Christmas tree to our State Capitol. It is a great privilege which highlights the agriculture and splendor of the Sierra foothills" states the Amador-El Dorado Unit Chief Kelly Keenan. "This years' tree is a Douglas Fir which stands approximately 60 feet tall. It will undoubtedly bring joy to everyone who visits the capitol this holiday season" adds Chief Keenan. "Over the years this event has drawn attention to both the beauty and diversity of the forested landscapes found in El Dorado County. It is a destination for people from across the globe, throughout the year. We have everything from winter snow sports to summer camping and hiking and everything in between. Currently we have many visitors who want to view the spectacular fall colors and feast on local agricultural products such as apples and wine. Soon families will flock to find and cut their own Christmas tree at one of the local Tree Farms. El Dorado County is a wonderland and it is an honor to be here and serve the community" says Chief Keenan.

On Tuesday November 15th, the tree will be transported through downtown Placerville on Highway 50 by CAL FIRE crews from El Dorado Station 43 with a California Highway Patrol escort at approximately 8:00 in the morning and is scheduled to arrive at the State Capitol Grounds at approximately 9:30.
