EVACUATION ROUTE CLEARING PROJECT

Proposed Evacuation Route Clearing
Work will begin soon to make the designated evacuation routes in Grizzly Flats safer to use during a fire emergency.

The Request For Proposal (RFP) will soon be published by the El Dorado County FireSafe Council, in order to receive contractor bids on the project that will be paid for by the $277,650 Federal Grant that the Grizzly Flats FireSafe Council (GFFSC) received last year. Property owners along the evacuation routes (see map) will soon be receiving letters from the GFFSC requesting written permission to remove brush and prune trees along the roadside.

A detailed Statement of Work is included in the mailing so that property owners will know what is being requested. This work will be done at no cost to the property owners.

Property owners can get a good idea of how their property should look after the work is completed by viewing the demonstration lot located at 10020 Grizzly Flat Rd. Look for the big white signs with red letters: EVACUATION ROUTE DEMONSTRATION AREA.

Our thanks to Norma & Dick Dawdy for allowing the use of their property for this demonstration and to volunteers from the GFFSC for doing the work.

The goal of the GFFSC is to make Grizzly Flats a fire safe community by protecting lives and property. This can only be accomplished with the help of the community! We ask those property owners who receive the mailing to please return the signed agreement as soon as possible.

Please remember, if at any time you need to
report a fire or you have an emergency CALL 911!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

Fire Season will soon be upon us and if the Fire Department cannot locate your house, your property is in jeopardy! HOUSE NUMBERS must be visible from the street . . . . just having them on the house or garage is not enough. You can order your house numbers in white on a green reflective metal surface from Dusty or Sandra at Pioneer Fire Station 38 on Mt Aukum Rd for a nominal fee. These signs can be ordered to hang vertically or horizontally with numbers on both sides. Posting your house number at the street could make the difference between help arriving in time or disaster! ACT NOW ! ! ! ! Call 620-4444.
