Vicinity Map Press Release Request for Proposals June 5, 2006 PRESS RELEASE Contact Person: Vicki Yorty Phone: (530) 647-1098 FIRE SAFE COUNCIL – SOLICITING PROPOSALS FOR FUEL
The El Dorado County Fire Safe Council (EDCFSC) has received funding to perform fuels reduction work in Grizzly Flats on primary and secondary evacuation routes. Grant funding for this project has been obtained from the United States Department of Agriculture, United States Forest Service, through the California Fire Safe Council Clearinghouse. The Grizzly Flats Project Request For Proposals (RFP) was released on June 5, 2007 with a due date of July 3, 2007. There will be a site visit for bidders on Wednesday June 13th at the Grizzly Flats Community Church at 10:00 a.m. The El Dorado County Fire Safe Council, formed in early 2002, has successfully brought over 5 million dollars into the county for fire safe projects, public education and community outreach, and various fuels reduction projects in collaboration with United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and local fire agencies. Their successful Residential Chipping Program is in the fifth year of operations and the EDCFSC has received notification of continuation of this program in 2008. For more information about the Council and their projects, go to their website at www.edcfiresafe.org. This site also has information on the California Defensible Space Clearance requirements (CA Public Resource Code 4291) that increased clearing around structures from 30 feet to 100 feet. The mission of the EDCFSC is "to protect the people of El Dorado County and their property from the effects of catastrophic wildfire through education, cooperation, innovation, and action." There are currently 15 local community based Fire Safe Councils on the western slope of the county that have been organized to address local issues and help residents help themselves make their homes, neighborhoods and communities more fire safe. Find out how to get a council organized in your community by visiting the EDCFSC website. Copies of the RFP and project map can be obtained on their website or by emailing a request to edcfiresafe@comcast.net. Contact Vicki Yorty, EDCFSC Executive Coordinator, at (530) 647-1098 for questions or to request the RFP be sent via mail. |
