  • Hot Dog Social Review
About 110 were in attendance. 21 new email addresses were obtained. Suggestions for next year included having it in September or in the spring and have food hours from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. $220 in donations was received along with gift certificates for door prizes from local merchants. SaveMart donated cider and cookies.

  • Where do we go next year?
The Logtown Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) addressed, among other things, the Mica evacuation route which needs vegetation removal. This will be discussed with CalFire.

Phone trees are still being worked on and structure protection data sheets are still being gathered.

The Forest Service compiled a report on the details of defensible space of homes that were saved in the recent Angora Fire at South Lake Tahoe. (Vicki Yorty)

  • Hydrant Checks - Rich Englefield
Flow checks of the hydrants are being done at the rate of 12-16 a day. The Diamond Springs/El Dorado Fire Department will provide traffic control on Crystal Boulevard as it is not safe to do the work with so much traffic on the road. There may be some mud in the water lines after the flow checks are done. This is a temporary condition.

EID (El Dorado Irrigation District) Director George Osborn and Rich Englefield have talked about the need for repair of hydrants in our area. A suggestion was made to create an adopt a hydrant program. It was suggested that neighbors keep the brush cleared from around nearby hydrants.

  • EDCFSC (El Dorado County Fire Safe Council) Update – Vicki Yorty
Funds will be allocated under Title3 for several grants including those for defensible space projects. The funds will be available in February 2008.

Many additional fire safe council are being formed.

A suggestion was made that a plan be formalized for submission of info for the EDCFSC web site so that the information can be kept current. There is a link on the site to the Logtown Fire Safe Council which includes the Logtown FSC Evacuation and Preparedness Plan, a map, Board agendas, minutes and bylaws. www.edcfiresafe.org
