Announcements:
Please adopt a hydrant and keep the area around it free of weeds and grasses so it is visible to fire fighters.

Defensible space inspections are done on an as requested basis. There are two trained inspectors in Logtown now. Training for additional inspectors is to be set up. Call or email Ken Hasse or Pat Dwyer if you wish to have an inspection or if you wish to receive the inspector training.

Ken Kumpe a new Logtown resident and a USFS fire prevention officer offered to help with inspections.

An evacuation exercise is being promoted. It will be a table top exercise and will include representatives from OES (Office of Emergency Services), CalFire and Diamond Springs/El Dorado FPD.

Weed abatement - El Dorado County has no weed abatement ordinance at this time. Funds are needed for enforcement. Amador County has a successful program and issued about 20 citations last year.

Prop 40 Proposal and Grants Update
All the proposals for fuel reduction work in Logtown have been submitted for funding. CalFire has committed $50,000 in matching funds. The Logtown Fire Safe Council was credited with about $46,000 in matching funds from meeting attendance time, hydrant checks, community cleanup and other activities.

Mailing regarding neighborhood cleanup which will include green waste dumpsters and chippers.
Neighborhood Coordinators are requested to submit to Ken Hasse the names and addresses of property owners in their zones.

Hydrant Update
Rich Englefield reported that inspections will begin again. Some wharf hydrants on Quartz Drive need valves or replacement. EID is working on the problem.

El Dorado County Fire Safe Council (EDCFSC) update
Rich Englefield stated that all the requests for grants have been submitted. The bylaws will be changed to include the local Fire Safe councils. The LTFSC will have elections in June for directors. The funds remaining after the hot dog social last fall were deposited with the EDCFSC and will be used by our council as needed.

Neighborhood Coordinator Update
Dominic Gregorio is working on mapping GPS measurements for the location of the 15 hydrants in his zone and on the Geographical Information System (GIS) for the 70 properties. There is a need to coordinate the mapping activities of all the agencies in the county. Ray Nutting suggested contacting the county surveyor for guidance.

Ed White of the GWCSD (Golden West Community Services District) spoke of the evacuation route on Mica. Ken will give him a copy of the letter of agreement from the property owner. The easement still needs to be recorded on the deed. An owner of property on Mica was in attendance and is in the process of obtaining approval to split his property into four parcels and has offered to pave the emergency access road. OES, fire departments and the sheriff’s department are the only agencies controlling evacuation routes.

Public Comment
Ray Nutting suggested that the council send a letter to the Nielsens and other ranch owners thanking them for the fuel breaks that are made by their cattle grazing operations.

Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned at 10 AM. The next meeting will be April 12, 2008.
