Each year the El Dorado County Fire Safe Council administers thousands of dollars in state and federal grants used for on the ground fuel reduction and outreach/education efforts to promote wildfire safety. We rely mostly on volunteers to do this. Some of our administrative costs can be taken from these grant funds, but there are other costs that cannot be covered by the grants. For example, even though we are a non-profit organization and pay no taxes we still must file a tax return. This usually costs about $1000 in accounting fees. Insurance, records storage, this website and other administrative costs add up to more than $10,000 each year. This money comes from donations made by people like you who benefit from our services.
